I have checked my settings in Options, but I am not able to save the passwords to any of the sites I normally visit. The only site that is saving the login and password is The New York Times online website.

I'm hoping that I don't have to uninstall and reinstall Firefox to get the Password Manager to work, but it's a bother to have to manually type in the login and password every time.

I do not use Norton. I recently updated to AVG Free 8.0. I also have "Remember Passwords for Sites" enabled in the Security Menu, "Accept cookies from sites" and "Ask me before clearing private data." I do not have the Saved Password box checked on the "clear private data" option.

But I still cannot save passwords. The pop-up that asks "do you want Firefox to remember this password" doesn't even come up.

Any suggestions of how I can solve this? :confused

Did this just start with the AVG 8 version?

Yes, but I don't think that was the problem.

What I do think was something I downloaded from CNET which was some kind of privacy manager. I'm not home right now so I can't recall what it was. I still have a copy in my Downloads folder.

Anyway the application worked too well and after I uninstalled it that was when my Firefox password manager stopped.

I'm almost certain the easiest fix to this would be to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. But I'm not certain what's the best way to export my bookmarks.

I'll know a little more when I get home. I work nights. :confused

I had this problem a while back and a reinstall did fix it. Make sure to export your bookmarks to a place you can find them again and right down the names of any FF add-ons that use, so that you can re-add them without trying to remember what you had.

Also, if you are using any cleaning apps like Windows Advanced Care or CCleaner, make sure they isn't wiping your cookies.

    Exporting FF bookmarks:
    1. Click on Bookmarks, then Organize Bookmarks
    2. In the window that opens, click on File then Export. Selet a place where you want to put them (a floppy or USB drive is nice to keep an archive).

To import you do the same thing except in step 2 select Import and look for the bookmark.html file you are importing.
