I'm running Firefox 26 under Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Frequently when I close the browser either by clicking the red X OR by going under File -> Exit the attached error message comes up. Any ideas?

It seems I found my own answer at the Firefox Forum. It's the version of the Flash Player plugin I have installed. — it doesn't want to exit when I exit Firefox under Vista Ultimate. I've got the same version installed under XP Pro and don't have the issue.

Otherwise, Firefox works fine under Vista Ultimate or XP Pro.

Thanks for letting us know the solution mdonah, I've been having a lot of problems with Firefox 26, with "script stopped working" error. I actually have been using Palemoon , http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/pale_moon.html, over Firefox until the next updated version. Thanks again buddy. :wine

I'm still waiting for further information from Mozilla. I wasn't able to post screenshots of the error message in my initial post at their forum. It doesn't make sense to me that I should have this problem under Windows Vista and NOT have it under Windows XP when I'm using the same version of Firefox and the same version of the Flash Player Plugin on both OSes.

Isn't Palemoon based on Chrome? I don't want anything Chrome related on my computer because I had installed Chrome a while back under XP and it BSODed my computer because it tried to access restricted memory.

It's possible that the error is triggered by the AV scanning or 'sandboxing' the plugin container, Flash has it's own 'sandbox' techniques now, doubling up would cause problems.

Nope, Pale Moon is based on Firefox, Pale Moon - General Information. The Pale Moon Technical details page lists the differences between Firefox and Pale Moon.

I think one difference(with an explanation) that should be noted is listed at the bottom of the "Pale Moon - General Information" page.
"Pale Moon will be released independent of Mozilla Firefox,"...
"the Mozilla rapid release schedule is not followed."

Chrome gave me the same problem under XP.

I finally heard back from Mozilla. As I stated in a previous post, the problem was being caused by the Flash Player plugin. They responded with a link to a page on troubleshooting the Flash Player plugin:

    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting

It seems that starting with Flash Player 11.3, it runs in a Protected Mode on Windows Vista and above. That's why I wasn't having problems under XP.

I disabled Protected Mode for Flash Player according to the instructions given on the page I linked to above.

It seems to have solved the issue. Firefox now exits cleanly under Vista whether I click the red X, go under File -> Exit or hit Alt + F4.
