Firefox problem

    Hey all...
    I can't manage to get my "extra" mouse buttons to work in Firefox. I can't use a browser that won't let me use the thumb bottons for back and forward, so can someone please tell me how this is fixed? It seems that it must be possible, but I can't find it anywhere. There are a few browsers giving me this problem and I find it hard to believe that it can't work...

    Mouse is Logitech MX Laser
    OS is Win XP Pro
