Firefox problem

I need help in using offline browsing with firefox 1.5.0.1.I have enabled history for 2 weeks .
When I check the "Work offline" switch in the menu and try to visit any page from the history or type its address in the address-bar, an error message appears that Firefox is currently in offline mode and can't browse the Web .
And I am using winXP .

 

Just a suggestion try posting your FF problems here http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php?c=4 I have found that they tend to nail FF problems a little faster than MG, hey thats all they deal with so it makes sense. PS you can aslo get there in FF by going to Bookmarks Mozilla/Firefox discussions. Hope that helps, as they have helped me with my FF problems. Oh........and welcome to MG best resource site on the net.

 

Try opening Firefox in offline mode, via the Profile Manager. With Firefox closed, go to Start > Run, enter:
firefox.exe -p
Don't leave out the space, or it won't work. In the Profile Manager, check Work Offline - and if you want the Profile Manager to come up automatically, uncheck Don't ask at Startup.

I don't guarantee this will help, Fx doesn't currently have much offline browsing capability. You could save pages you want to peruse later with the Scrapbook extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/427/

 

I may hate myself in the morning, but I have to mention that Firefox developers are working on a new bookmark/history system called Places which does support offline browsing. This was planned for v 2.0, to be released in a few months. but it still needs too much development. So it's been delayed probably to v 3.0. There are development builds available, badged Minefield 3.0a1. If you're an advanced user, who doesn't mind messing with buggy Alpha software, you could try that.
