    Some sites still download slow.

    Hi all,

I upgraded to comcast internet today and I still have trouble with timing out on some webpages. Is there a setting that I can use to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!!

    try this:

    open a command prompt
(windows key + r, type cmd and press enter)

type tracert slow site URL and press enter.

See what the times are like for each hop. Firefox really shouldn't affect the load speed of websites that much. Also, you should tell us about your internet setup. Is your machine connected directly to the modem or through a router? Even hardware specs might not be a bad idea to post.

I am not sure what you are looking for, I am connected via a cable modem that is linked directly through my USB port. What other information are you looking for? I thought I had everything in my sig? Please elaborate. Thanks!

Okay, first of all, you don't have a signature that I can see.
But, an easy way to give your system specs would be to run Everest (available on this site) or SANDRA and pasting the results.

What else I was trying to do was run a tracrt to see how fast information from one of these slow sites is travelling from router to router.

To do this for major geeks, you would type tracert www.majorgeeks.com at a command prompt. This will show you how long (usually in ms) it takes for packets to travel from your computer to the website and back. Its a very useful tool when troubleshooting internet connectivity. Below is a screenshot of what a tracert should look like.

I am confused as to why you cannot see my system info at the bottom. Anyways, I will run the Everest report in a bit. I have to head to class. thanks for the help.:)

Not as late as I thought it was. You honestly cannot see my quote or system information under my statements? That is interesting. I have to figure out why.

    thanks again for the help.:)

I did tracert on www.comcast.net which is one of the ones that is taking forever (and I now have a cable modem) so I am confused. The number one spot (1.) comes up as a timed out response, then they are all good until number 14, which also times out. Is this a server issue in my local area, or an issue on my system? the number one is me, right?

353 up and nearly 4000 down.

What do you mean I do not have to use their software? I am all about not using something I do not have to. How do I get around it please?:)
