Firefox Security Update

I got a pop up or message that has FF logo, and something about a downloading security update or patch for FF.
Having been bitten with hacker problems, and trojans or worms or some such, I hesitate to download anything.
I was researching this download, and came across something calling itself the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OMB Control No.: 1601-0014; Expiration Date: 11/30/2014)
Never heard of such.
Also, is this FF security patch or update legit?

Sounds bogus! What FF version are you running? I am up to date with FF v 50.0 and haven't seen that alert before. OFC I haven't been to that site, either. Date 2014 sounds flakey Are you running uBlock Origin or Adblock Plus extensions. Also, are you running website warning extensions like TrafficLight? I wouldn't download anything, while on that site.

 

Always use the Firefox tabs to scroll and find the update part in the advanced tab- as in screenshot

That is where genuine updates will be streamed

 

We all have our ways, as can be seen above -I just showed that on that tab you can also choose to update to your liking from within the advanced tab. I had the automatic tab clicked, as an example.
Personally, I always use the in-house updater on any program, including other browsers, if there is one, as much as possible, to avoid getting a bogey. No doubt most geeks do.
