firefox slow??

So I came back to college last night. I installed the new version of firefox. I just installed it, but did not use it at all. I woke up this morning and just starting using it and its very slow loading up web pages. I do not beleive its the schools internet because IE is going even faster than firefox. I tried tweaking all of the settings and even used the extension fasterfox. The only thing i can think of is i change from sygate to zonealarm firewall over my thanksgiving break. Maybe zonalarm is making it slow?? Any thoughts

I have a Dell 4700, windows xp service pack 2, 80GB hardrive with 1GB RAM

 

well, have you tried disabling ZA and testing ?

 

Yep, did that before i posted, sorry didnt mention that. It just takes forever to load up a page, but it seems like it loads my schools websites pages very quickly..very odd

Is IE on a proxy? If so, is Firefox set on that proxy?

What about any college mates? Are they also haveing the same Firefox issues?

 

That was it, IE was on a proxy, i fixed it, thank you all for your help.
