found this on another forum. worked great for speeding up firefox

If you want to increase the speed of your browsing with Firefox, follow these simple directions:

    Open Firefox.
Type "about:config" in the adress bar (no quotation marks).
Find these options, double click each one and change to below values:

    network.http.max-connections: 48

    network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24

    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12

    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6

    network.http.pipelining: true

    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 32

    network.http.proxy.pipelining: true

Close Firefox and enjoy the faster browsing.

    but is it safe?

Thanks for the info Jarcher...I can't help commenting on your final words:
'close Firefox and enjoy faster browsing' Doesn't Firefox have to be open to use it? :p :)

For overall network bandwith tweaks I also use DRTCP021 for quick registry tweaks: http://www.broadbandreports.com/drtcp
and CableNut v4.08 for in depth tweaks: http://www.cablenut.com
...but I am sure most of you already knew about them?

    Cheers,
    Turco

I have noticed that there is a performance increase in web viewing using Jarchers tweaks, but I also had done Ace's links as well.

Try this link to download the Firefox Optimizer, I sure as heck noticed a difference! Hope you do too! ;)

Tip: when you click on the 'Download' button, from the opening d/l links, choose the second (local mirror) one.
