Found this while surfing, thought they may be of interest to some.

First in the URL bar, Type "about:config". This will bring up a list of commands and variables you can edit.

The second step is to put "network.http.pipelining" in the filter and change the value to "true".

After that you will want to put "network.http.proxy.pipelining" in the filter.

Like the last one, make that value set to "true" also.

The next thing you want to do is locate "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" and change the value to some number higher, if you were to set it to 10, it would make up to 10 requests at once.
The last step is to right click anywhere and select "New" then "Integer". Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and make its value "0". This will make the browser respond faster on the information of the websites it receives.

Close out FireFox (FireFox is known to not always close properly; view the Task Manager to ensure it closed out completely) and re-open it and enjoy the new mega speed!

    Conclusion

That's all there is to it, and if you're on a broadband connection your page load will be at least 2-3 times faster then previously. This is just the one of the many advantages that Firefox has over Internet Explorer. While Internet Explorer still has this type of capability, though you will notice the speed in FireFox more. Some of the other features include tabbed browser windows for easier browsing, built in pop up blocker that is much better than Internet Explorer's, and other great features not found in IE. There are also many plugins, one of them being Adblock that has the ability to block iframe, images, swf, and other embedded ads.

Well, about:config has been out for quite sometime, also editing the prefs.js and creating user.js is posted on the mozilla forums.

For instance, my boss can't stand the small search bar next to the "go" button. He wanted it larger/longer. Well, it is possible to edit that.

But, from what you posted, most of that can be automated by using a tool called FireTune:

But, I'm sure it will be helpful for a future reference.... :)

We must have posted at the same time. Anyway, I found the hard way here at MG. If the software exists at MG, post a link to the MG download site, if not, then post an offsite link. ;)

No problem, I did the same in the past, and it seemed that everyone posted MG links. Just passing the info on to others, for others to pass on to others.... or something like that! ;)

Actually, the maximum number of pipelining requests is 8, setting it higher than this will make no further increase in speed over setting it at 8.

You may run into problems with pipelining, a few servers don't support it. You'll need to turn off pipelining for some sites to work properly. This is not something you can do quickly or conveniently.

Also, Adblock is an extension, not a plug-in. Extensions are add-on programs that essentially become part of Firefox. Plug-ins are interfaces that allow external programs like Java, Adobe, media players, etc, to work with the browser.
