I've been using Firefox for about three years, but what I don't understand is most of my friends never heard of it. People, it seems believe that IE is the one and only browser. I WAS one of these people until I discovered Firefox. I'm just interested to know how many people have switched from IE to Firefox or Opera or some other browser I haven't heard of.
    Love the forum.

Firefox was supposed to be better than IE, more secure and more reliable, when it first came out. However, the last few releases have been rather buggy, and have had quite a few vulnerabilities. I have it installed on two out of three computers. On my XP system, it crashes quite frequently. On my Win2K system, it works ok. On my wife's Win2K system, I couldn't install it, because it wouldn't accept any changes I made, and would endlessly loop on the Google toolbar set up page, which I didn't want or need in the first place.

I think the reason many people believe that IE is the one and only browser is obvious; it's because IE is on all Windows systems and so people are exposed to it right from the get-go.

I was one of those people until about six months ago when I tried Firefox on my Win XP system. I quickly found it's tabbed browsing quite likable and it's been my primary browser since then. If more of those IE user tried Firefox, I'm sure a significant number would switch.

I've used Firefox for a couple of years, and switched from IE because of the perceived security benefits. Since then I've got so used to the tabbed browsing and the panoply of extensions that I'd be reluctant to let it it go.

Still use Firefox now and then, but the developers need to address the issue of resource usage.

    Rarely use IE unless necessary.

I think browsers are a personal thing. Seems to be fans of each. As my default browser I use Opera only because I like it.

    Just my opinion.
