I just found out to night. While scrolling through my Home page on face book.Every time i dig deeper into the time line it will eat up more ram.I got as far as 4 gigs of ram taken away by firefox and face book.

There is a huge i mean very huge memory leak here.

I spent the last 3 or 4 hours trying to figure out the issue.

Firefox does not have a issue with any other site that i can see but facebook.

And if you watch your ram while scrolling through your home page. You will see that it eats ram like crazy. And there is no way to stop it that i can see.

Just logged into FB with Firefox v48.02 for about 15 minutes, with a few other sites open. Going through the timeline, and reading a number of posts and Task Manager saw RAM hovering between 450-580mb.

Hi my friend , same problem to me with Palemoon and facebook , i am working on the internet without facebook , everything look alright now , the only solution for me , flash player and advertisements is the cause of that situation i think

When using Firefox for FB I have NoScript and AdBlock Plus running, and I have Flash set to 'ask to activate'. On that basis Firefox using 450-600mb of RAM is not an issue. People getting multiple GBs of Ram being used by Fx on FB or anywhere else, clearly have a problem on their system or not using stuff to restrict ram.

No i don't restrict ram usage.

This is a problem I have tried every version of firefox and it still happens even with a clean install.

I am not sure if this happening with any other web browser or not.

    I might test them.

I have Edge, IE, Opera and Chrome on my systems. I use Firefox by default. I'm not seeing this massive RAM use when surfing FB on any of them.

You did not say which version of Firefox - make sure it is the latest.

    Check plugins (Flash Player) here:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

If it's not current, get the Flash Player uninstaller here:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/adobe_flash_player_uninstaller

    Download Flash Player here:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/adobe_flash_player

    At least do these three:
    • At about:addons - Plugins set Flash Player to Ask to Activate as suggested.
    • Clear the browser cache: Firefox menu Tools > Options > Advanced > Network - Cached Web Content > Clear Now
Click the Clear button two or three times to be sure it's fully cleared.
    • Refresh the Facebook page.

Even if Flash Player is up to date, it may help to go through the removal / reinstall process.

Coyote, have you checked your Privacy and Application settings in FB? If your page contains auto-playing animated gifs and or video, advertising etc., your memory usage will be high, you have to take charge of it, leaving it all open/Public is asking for grief. If anyone's slipped in a badly coded image/video/advert etc, then that would easily account for what you're seeing as a memory leak.

I'd uninstall all but uBlockO and add the hpHosts (this is mostly what the Premium version of MBAM uses for it's web blocking) filters to it, while you're in the 3rd party filters tab, check for updates to the others as well.

    What about the Plugins?

    They are only 'extensions'.
Lower down in the 'Add ons' menu you should list the 'Plug ins' that are allowed to activate automatically.

On that list of 'extensions' I personally think having both AdBlock and uBlock is unnecessary.
And the very same applies to having two extensions for pop ups. I don't bother with even one!

Speed Tweaks uses a lot of system resources and so does adblock plus I would delete all extensions except ublock Origin and get NoScript extension

Yes, NoScript is excellent. I wouldn't use Firefox without it.
