firefox will not boot

I am running XP SP2, Trend PC-cillin, IE7, with no ad-ons, and nothing
else. I love Firefox, but wife loves IE, so both have been installed.
firefox 1 used to run ok on IE6 but would sometimes say, " server not found,
en-us.start.mozilla.com ", didn't happen often.
several weeks ago, I got the same error message, and could not get it to go away.
I went to the mozilla, and downloaded FF 2.0, still will not boot,
same error. I do not do games, movies, or anything fancy. My 200g hard
drive is 92% free. there are no add-ons at all.
My PC is a Compaq Presario, AMD 3500+ processor, 984MHz, 960MB Ram.
200 GB Hdrive. I was just hoping that someone has had this problem, and
could help or offer advice. Thank you all for this great site!.

Check under the File menu and make sure Work Offline is NOT checked.

Within FireFox:

Click Tools, Options, then select the advanced tab, then select (within advanced) the network tab. Click setting under "connection".

Make sure the settings here are correct. My settings are "Direct connection to the internet". Which is default btw.

 

Hmmm i had this same exact problem....i dont remember what i did... I know i tried to remove FF2.0 completely and do a fresh reinstall...if that dont work try unistalling FF2.0 and IE and then install em both again...i know it wasnt anything fancy but i think after a few reinstalls it finally worked for me...it was wierdconfused

Firefox woes

As I mentioned in my 1/17 post, I still cannot load firefox.
There have been some good suggestions, I tried them all, no good.
