Firefox won't open

Hello, nothing happens when I click on my firefox icon, can you please tell me how you fixed yours. thank you

 

Could you please right click the icon and click properties and tell me what it said?

I have XP, I haven't tries reinstalling it yet because I don't want to lose my bookmarks, i have so many!

 

Properties: In the target window it says "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

 

And if it asks you if you want to remove your bookmarks, say no.

 

Oh really? so I can delete this fire fox and install the newer version, and just restore my book marks?
I found a book mark folder, but nothing happens when you click on it, so do you think it will work once I install the newer version?
Should I save that bookmarks backup folder somewhere else too, before deleting firefox, incase that file gets deleted too?
