    Good Day All,

I have a couple of questions.

I started downloading zone alarm and went to bed. When I got up this morning I plopped down in front of the computer to see how things worked out.

The set up was downloaded to my desk top but when I wanted to open it I got the dreaded not a valid win32 application. Some one please help me understand.

The other question was that I finally got to download spy bot s&d and could not get the updates right away. I went for updates this morning and am currently running a scan. After my initial scan I had a I believe a mess/windows firewall bug of some sort. I got the updates this morning and am running a scan again. Could this have something to do with the zone alarm not being able to load?
I did fix the problem according to sb s&d.

    Thanks for any help.

    Jeb

    Thanks Mark,

I had actually run cc this morning. I have deleted the zone set up and will probably install one of the other you suggested as my system is old and small. 20gig hd 256 ram.

It isn't much but I want to keep it running. I should let SB complete its scan before running the cc cleaner again though correct?

    Mark,

Thanks for the info. I have actually run crucial systems scan recently.

I have ram from an old computer that I believe will get me to 512. I just haven't done it yet. This old computer does actually run pretty well but got kind of sluggish for a couple of days and I figured I better get and run the SB S&D.

I think I will probably go with one of the smaller firewalls just to save space if nothing else.

I recently had my computer crash and am waiting/saving for a new computer as this is just a loaner. Gotta keep it running right. Made an external from my old HD.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Jeb

The problem with downloading something large with a slow modem overnight is you will not be there to see it fail. If the download stops short of completing you can easily get the error you described because your trying to run a file that is incomplete. I suspect your on dialup or at least a very slow broadband connection. For large files it would be best for you to use a download manager that can check files for errors as it goes along and restart them if they stop. Flashget is free but don't download the latest versions, take the classic version 1.73 instead. Its all you need and won't go opening ports on your PC like the newer versions do, its not secure to open ports you don't need.
