Firewall Question.

Hmm on another forum I heard that zonealarm is more of anewb type firewall because it doesn't have many options (so they said) but that's what I use now. They said sygate and kerio are better overall for advanced users, is this true? I'm just basically asking for opinion.

 

Hi bal.. I posted a similar question a while back and basically got the answer that a firewall is a matter of personal pref and wharever makes you feel secure is the one to go with.I read quite alot of comp mags and a large percentage of them state that z/a is as good as most paid for firewalls.Personally i like the easy to use interface,I did get the impression from my post that more experienced users use kerio so i downloaded it from m/g,however i havent used it being of the opinion that if it aint broke dont fix it.z/a has never let me down although i have had problems which were my own stupid fault.If z/a works for you at the mo and youre happy with it id say why change.just my thoughts..hope it helps..ragman

I put this one on my Mom's PC and she really likes it. It has an ad-blocker too.

 

It seems a long time ago when i downloaded Kerio Tiny Personal Firewall and it has not let me down on every occasion that I have come onto the net. Therefore I love it because it on not as intrusive as ZA. To me ZA over the top but KTPFW is equally as protective and achieves the same goal.
That said i always have an AV checker operational and at the end of the day we sponge out the box with a mix of cleaners chief of which is Spybot and Adaware
