Firewall Re-install Problem

Greetings, Majorgeeks, I'm very much in need of your help again.

For the past few months I was having trouble (like several people, it seems) downloading and installing COMODO Firewall updates. I remembered a news article on this website that offered an updated install of the firewall. Well, I ended up going to the Comodo website to download their latest installer. To run the installer I first had to uninstall my old copy of Comodo. Unfortunately, the program wouldn't uninstall. I would get a message tell me something to the effect of 'Comodo services cannot be stopped right now. You will need to delete some files manually after restarting' and then an error message mentioning a missing .dll, I believe. Add/Remove programs was no better, as it only gave me an 'Access Denied' message about Comodo's System process.

Anyway, in frustration, I just deleted everything in my program file. Stupid, I know. Well, now my compy is still convinced Comodo is on my system. I can't install the new version because it wants to uninstall the old copy which of course no longer exists and can't be uninstalled.

I really liked Comodo before it decided to go stir-crazy; any thoughts on how I can fix this, gents?

System is an old PC running (an old update of) XP Service Pack 2.

Well, gents, the mistakes of my earlier frustration have been mitigated with good 'ole System Restore.

But there still remains the problem of uninstalling and then reinstalling Comodo firewall. or, if possible, getting it to update properly.

How should I go about it?
