Is there a correct sequence to replacing the pre-loaded Norton? e.g.
uninstall existing > download replacement ...or vice versa ...or doesn't it matter?

How can I make this any clearer? I'm NOT asking how to uninstall Norton. I AM asking if there's a correct sequence for replacement???

    Hi

Yes matters ,especially if the all in ones as Norton, McAfee etc are installed as PC needs clean base to really install the new replacement security apps, is this just the Norton Firewall or Norton Internet Security? also whatt OS?

Uninstall existing ( using add/remove then the tool Mark posted ) then do a cleanup of PC with likes of CCleaner ( cleaner and registry and run registry one 3 times ) then install new replacement.

Yes exactly same, need to remove any trace of Norton IS, once Revo, Norton Removal tool and a run of CCleaner is done reboot, then install your new Security tools.

    1. I always download a replacement before I do anything.
    2. Then I disconnect from the internet any time that I will be removing protection software because i don't want to get hit when I'm not running protection.
    3. Remove Norton followed by various cleanups to get every remaining piece out of all the nooks and crannies. :-D Reboot.
    4. Install the new product that is waiting on the desktop and reboot again.
    5. Connect to the internet and teach your new firewall what it should allow and what it should block.
