Firewall, time for a new one.

    I use to have the good old Norton Firewall. Well we all have to learn the hard way some times. Well, I am in the market for a good strong firewall. What Firewall would you recommend?

    I still rely on plain old ZA (Free), keep it checked for updates, and set my Program Control panel regularly, to keep the new programs I've installed under control.

    It hasn't failed me. Years of no viruses, no spyware, no hijacks, etc., have left me happy with the work of my anti-virus, my anti-spyware progs, and my ZA firewall, all of which work in happy concert. And I'm on cable -- live All the Time.

    Hummmmmmm.

    Small warning.

    We had a customer upgrade to XP SP2.

    Customer could not boot to normal mode until we killed Sygate.

    Could have been a fluke...but just in case....

    good thinking mate! with SP2.. I guess we are going to see a few apps over the coming weeks failing with SP2 installed.. so good advice Adryn.


    as Wisewiz said earlier ZA is also a goodun..... some have had issues with uninstalling.. I still use it and it hasnt had any problems with SP2 .. personal opinion as I have both installed and working for past 48hrs.

    Sygate is my favourite. I use the Personal FW Pro which i paid for.

    Works okay in SP2 so far
