firewall

    I have windows vista. The firewall closes down every time I switch off. I have to turn it on, if I remember, every time vista opens up. I have gone into the settings and ticked the button for on recommended, alas it still closes down. Any ideas please????????????:confused

    I do have another one on trial which I will not use once the trial expires. The firewall from windows has been closing down on its own for ages a long time before the introduction of another firewall.:confused

    Do you have or did you ever have Windows Live One Care?
    I saw where this was shutting of Vista's firewall for a few people.

    So that's why your firewall is always off when you boot up your computer.
    It appears that MS wants you to use the One Care firewall in place of the Vista firewall if you have One Care installed.

    Sorry the term has expired and I do not want to renew my contract with live one care. Its expired but still works partly how do I disable it I have got avg which is free. Thankyou:)

    I am ever so grateful thank you for your time and knowledge. It's worked a treat the firewall was on as soon as I restarted after uninstalling live one care.:wave
