    Hello,

I've got an Avastor HDX-400 250 GB hard drive and enclosure that has been working fine for as long as I have had it. I just put a new firewire card into my desktop PC (Dynex DX-FC103) but the drive isn't showing up no matter what.

I run XP Home atm, but I'm trying to put my backup files on the drive because I'm going to reformat to XP pro. XP is detecting the 1394 host and 1394 net adapter just fine, but my drive never pops up. The drive has consistently worked on a number of Macs, and still does.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

    :UPDATE:

I'm now on a Mac, and the drive is not showing up at all. It was working the last time I used it before I installed the card on my Windows machine and tried it there. Now it won't work on this computer either. I have not yanked it without unmounting or anything...frankly I'm quite perplexed as to why it's acting this way. I've kept the drive in very good condition...in fact I've only had it since October-ish.

Losing data on this drive would be catastrophic. Anyone have a clue as to what's happening? Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark
