First ever build.

I am building my first computer and I have a budget of around $2,000. That is the highest I can afford at the moment. I am looking to build a good computer with good specifications to play all the top games of today. I would appreciate it if any of you could give me some tips on what I have listed below. Like maybe what I should purchase instead of something else because it is not worthing buying this or that. Any suggestions on money saving, component compatibility, tips, or any advice concerning anything would be excellent.

What optical drives (cd/dvd drives) would you recommend getting. Cheap but very effective. lite-on, pioneer, etc? I have not entirely decided on which case as of yet, but I am leaning towards the Thermaltake Shark, full tower.

You may want to consider getting yourself a barebones kit. I ordered this system today, and I think I have made significant savings. I got SWEET specs for CHEAP. Just thought I would mention it.

As for optical drives, I think NEC is a great name. Heh, I have one, and I will likely be giving the Lite-On burner from this system to my GF. Shhh, don't tell her!
