first post in a loooooooooooong time. could really use the help

hello. all of a sudden my laptop is running really really really slowly, i can't imagine why, i'm trying to run scans and defragment it, but it doesn't seem to be working?confused :cry

Are you running the (presumably malware) scans in Safe Mode?

 

i've had that problem once, and it turned out to be a virus that's taking up all my cpu just to slow me down. when you boot in the safe mode, windows loads only the programs and services that are needed for the bootup and therefore stop that virus from running itself. you can do a spyware scan there. or you can disable updates for your programs, they do take up system resources.
