Hi there. :wave I discovered this site a couple weeks ago. I've done some reading & since people in here seem friendly & helpful, I thought I'd register so I could post & ask for some much needed help.

I've been having audio problems forever now, and have been asking people I know, phoning computer places, and using the help option on my computer; all to no avail. :confused I have that annoying little red x beside the clock saying 'No audio output device is installed.' The speakers do work, as I've plugged them into another device and heard sound. When I go into the control panel & click on sounds, it says 'no audio devices are installed' under the Playback & Recording buttons. On the Sounds button, it won't let me choose anything or test any of the sounds. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, on an Acer Aspire M1100 computer, with a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz.
I'm not sure if that's the right info I need to share in order to get help, but I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me.

    Thanks :)

Thanks, zDawg32. I downloaded it, extracted it, restarted my computer, but still nada. :cry
Could it be a hardware problem, maybe? :confused

After you extract it, all it does is put the files on your computer. Now you have to open the place where it extracted the files, and double-click Setup.exe
    :)
    Welcome, by the way:wave

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

The latest Realtek audio drivers are available right here at MajorGeeks (always have been). I have used 'em MANY times to fix assorted audio problems. If zDawg's driver doesn't work, try this: Uninstall any sound drivers you have installed (Control Panel > Programs & Features > select the driver, click Uninstall) and restart the PC. Download this driver and install it. When the install is done, but before restarting the PC, click the "Start" orb, in the run/search box type services.msc and press Enter, scroll down through the resulting list of services until you get to Windows Audio, make sure it is set to "Started" and "Automatic". If it's not set this way, right click it, select "Properties" and make the necessary changes. Then close the Services window and finalize the driver install by restarting the PC. GOOD LUCK!!! Let us know how things work out.

    . . . . and a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all!!!!
