Hello. I am going to try and set up a router to my modem. I have never really done this before and I would like to know 1. if these 2 products would work well together and 2. how I should go about setting these up with the least amount of hassle. This is the modem I am using Netgear DSL Gateway Modem Model 7550. It is a dual modem/router combo, but I need a router to extend wifi range and hopefully just get an all around better connection and so on from it. Netgear N600 Wireless Router - Dual Band Gigabit (WNDR3700) this is the router I want to connect to the modem. So with that any help would be appreciated.

Ummm, that's not what routers do!

Understand technically, there is NO such thing as a "wireless router". That is a marketing term only for an integrated device that has a router and a WAP (wireless access point) in one box. They are totally separate network devices that just happen to share a case, circuit board and power supply to save space and money.

If you need to extend the range of the wireless side of your network, you need a WiFi range extender, not another router. Or maybe just moving your current "Gateway Modem" (another integrated device that just happens to include a modem in the same box too) to a more central location.
