Fixation Error

I know i have posted this before but i have some new info to add. I am using Nero 6 Ultra. When i try to bun a data cd or a music cd i get a "Fixation Error" & "SCSI Command Aborted" & "Could not perform end track" These where some of the messages that showed up when i tried to burn. I can however copy a cd. My drive is a TDK Velo 16X. i have had it for about 2 years.

I have tried a number of things like cleaning out the drive with canned air, switching its position on the ide cables, tried differnt cds, even changing the power connector. I have tried a number of things and i as still stumped.

I tried another program i got from here, Deep burner, it worked fine. I have gone through the preferiences many time and adjusted all the settings i could think of.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

last time I had this problem with a burner, I had to update the firmware.

Well i flashed the drive to the newest version i could find at the TDK website, and i am still getting the sare errors. I have had people tell me that my drive was going bad, but if it works fine with other programs, why wouldnt it work with Nero.

had the same issue with nero on my work pc.. ironically, my drive did eventually die but I can't say for sure that fixation error was relevant to its' death. Try burning at slower speed.

 

Well i tried burning at 2X and it got through the whole cd but at the end i still get the same errors, and "Could not perform end track". I think it means it cannot close the cd. Later im going to try the drive in another pc, see if that makes a difference. If not i am going to buy a new drive. Any suggestions on brand of model?

LiteOn or Plextor

Plextor is more expensive, but is by far and large the best manufacturer of burners out there.
