I posted a while back that my Everex XT5300T Video card died.

After looking online at possible fixed I deiced to try and fix it today using a Hairdryer method. What I did is pulled the heatsink that covered the CPU GPU and Chipset and then cleaned off the thermal paste.

I then took a Hairdryer to the GPU 2 inches away for about 5 minutes then let it cool for about 5 minutes.

Put new past on put the heatsink and laptop blower motor back in place and guess what? I reinstalled windows installed the video card drivers and now it works perfectly fine.

Hope other people find this useful.

Hope I posted in the right section :-D

Today it doesn't work. Same stuff as before

I will try some other stuff.

This indicates thermal cracking - the GPU works when it is hot, but not cold. The only fix for this is a replacement chip, which may not be easy.

    Sorry.

Well I have to replace the entire motherboard as it's not replaceable. I thought it was but it isn't. :(

Probably more economical these days to replace the entire laptop. Laptop motherboards are tricky to replace and having a shop do it may cost upwards of £500 not including parts.
