Fixing a corrupt WinRar file...????

Is there a way to repair a corrupt Winrar file so it will extract from the compressed winrar archive file? It wasn't corrupt when I archived it, now I have several that are corrupt! What a bunch-o-crap!!!!

If you are using Winrar and the file was created with recovery information, open it in Winrar and select repair, if it isn't too bady damaged, Winrar will create a new rar file in the same directory.

I don't remember the file menu specifics, been a while since I used Winrar, I think there is also a button for repair?

 

Thanks! Are there 3rd party programs to do a better repair job in the event that the WinRar itself cannot fix?

If the recovery data was insufficient and Winrar cannot repair it, I don't think there are any 3rd party apps that can do it

In future, set the default archive type to .rar and make the recovery data a larger percentage of the file, these are all set within the options of Winrar. When you create a .rar file, make sure you test it before deleting the original data.

 

Thank you. I will go in and review the settings and make the adjustment. Yes, I was an idiot and had not tested before deleting some files. I learn from my mistakes, fortunately the files were mp3 files and I can replace them each, just going to be a pain....oh well.
