I have 3 flash drives. The oldest is a Lexar, and it is only close to 500mb. The computer recognizes the two newest ones fine. I can check the files in the library under F drive. The Lexar though, registers how much is on it, and clearly it is not the same as the big SanDisk flash drive. The anti virus will scan the smaller flash drive, and you can see the files on it. But when you go to the library, and look up F drive, it shows the files from another flash drive that is not in the computer. When you go to eject the old flash drive, it properly says the name. But I cannot see any files on it, via the library. The old Lexar is probably 3-4 years old I am guessing. The computer sees the other two flash drives perfectly. I am not getting any error messages, and the Lexar flashes when you insert it. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? This is a new Dell computer I am using with Win8.

hi kelkay..flash drives can be a real pain in the ***!!!
seeing as its only 500mb im guessing its pretty old, personally i would be inclined to bin it, however do you have files you need to access??
do you know what the file system is? can you right click on my computer, then select manage, then disk management (obviously with disk in drive)
you should then see the drive listed with details of file type etc..you can check the drives health and make sure its a primary partition
let me know how you get on..but worse case scenario retreive files on an older system bin the drive and treat yourself to a new one..

I need some of those files. I have Win8, and I don't see a My Computer anywhere. If I go to library, then computer, then I can see the flashdrive in the F: position. If you right click on properties, it has the option to scan for errors. The message says you don't have any errors. (if you click check) I don't know how to tell if it is a primary partition.

That was easy enough. It says it is healthy, and has (Primary Partition)

is the partition listed as active?

is this drive listed as a dynamic disk?

All I see is simple, basic, fat...it is healthy and has 483 MG FAT, primary partition, 330 MG free space, 69% free. I do not see anything saying active or dynamic disk. It does say it is removable, and online. I guess online means active?

    hi kelkay
in disk management right click the drive and you should see an option to mark the drive active..do this reboot your system and hopefully this will give you access to your files

It is grayed out, I can't do that. It gives an option to open, explore, change drive letter and paths, format, properties, and help.
