Flash Queery

    Hi All, My rewriter has probs and RW company sent me this email, question do they mean I'll be flashing the whole Bios as RW is not in the same computer as the one when problem arose although prob still exists.

    Thank you for purchasing our product. We apologize for the drive caused you inconvenience. Here is the attached file " BCE 1610IM.zip " that is just for BCE 1610IM drive used only. The firmware version is " A.20 ". Before you useing it, there are some notices may you can take care:

    1. When you do flashing by yourself, any consequesces you must take responsibility by yourself.

    2. When you do flashing, here are the flashing steps as follow may you can observe:

    A. The file " BCE 1610IM.zip " is a zip file, before you using it, you must extracting it.

    B. You must start up your computer into the DOS system. Because flashing only can be used in the DOS system.

    C. For IDE device, we suggest you can connect with on "secondary" port. After that, please check out the jumper setting.

    If your jumper setting is setting on " Secondary Master " then you must key " fl ".

    If your jumper setting is setting on " Secondary Slave " then you must key " fl 4 ".
    After flashing, you must restart your computer.

    After that, if it still can't solve your problem. Please contact with us as soon as possible. Any further questions, please feel free to le us know.

    This flashes the firmware in the drive only.

    firmware is the internal programming (ROM if you will) of your device...

    Thanks for reply Serg. Unzipped the folder, then went to Dos window as requested then typed in the address but it cannot find so I repeated several times by cutting and pasting the address but still the same, have double treble checked the address and all is in order yet com will not find, any ideas please.

    A friend has just arrived with his com and it will not Boot save for about three to four seconds. He has 2 HD 2Gig&20Gig have tried booting from master on both but no good. Took the battery out for 10 minutes, still no good. Activity light on Eide drivers OK but not on keyboard and Floppy drive. Screen totally black any ideas please as his son is most frustrated. He switched off and all was OK moved com to another room and the result is above.
