Flashget/Flashgot Trustworthy?

Okay so I looked through the various download managers since I'm sick of having failed to download MapleSEA for the umpteenth time from download interruption and their RAR downloads don't work.

While I used to be confident my computer could handle 2.2GBs last time if put under constant surveillance and ensuring the net doesn't fail, it seems my connection doesn't work the same way it used to anymore.

The site suggests Flashget if the download issue gets annoying. Except I've read up on Flashget and it says it potentially had malwares in the past, and the thought of a single virus in my computer is enough for me to go quite literally crazy-paranoid.

So I went looking for another potential download manager, and eventually I narrowed down my selection to 2 of them, either FlashGet or FlashGot, and I'm not sure if I can trust either of them.

Does anyone know which one I can trust better, or which one I should use? Or if your suggestion is not one of either, please suggest one that you know is clean and safe. Thank you.

Flashget has been listed on Majorgeeks for many years. It runs ads so it is adware but you get ads anywhere you go. Anything on Majorgeeks is trustworthy. I: have used and like Flashget.

I have been using it since it appeared on MGs and have never had a problem with it, as MA said it does carry ads but it's a small price to pay for a really good down loader.

Okay, so I'll take your words for it. Just one question though before I call it a day and plan my schedule for downloading it and then MapleSEA tomorrow, will there be any complications in removing it when its time comes? "Easy to get in, difficult to get rid" sort of issues like that or anything I should take note of?

P.S.: Should I download the latest one or the classic one? Or does Majorgeeks solve all that by just downloading the one available on Majorgeeks itself?

I personally use the classic one because i found it more comfortable to use.
There are no problems removing it if that is your choice.

Kay', thanks for the info. Well, it's more of a "don't keep what you don't need and don't fully trust" sort of thing-mindset I'm keeping to ensure a virus-free computer. Plus I only download big stuff once a year or so and I managed 822MBs 2 months back with just the Firefox download unit.

What I seek in a download manager:

    - REQUIRED: Resume from download interruptions.
    - OPTIONAL: Acceleration of my downloads.

I am willing to wait 12 hours to download something, but I cannot stand that download cutting off on me and having to start from zero again.

Okay so I just ran into one minor secondary problem. I know bumping hurts, but it's too late for me to do an edit.

Does Flashget do binary files? Because it doesn't seem to be downloading them, it goes straight to the Firefox downloader.

It goes to FF downloader first but all you have to do is double click the file you want and it will open Flashget and yes you can resume downloads after interruptions.

    Edit
did you set Flashget as your default downloader during setup.??
