Flashing Bios From 9800 Pro to XT Help.

I recently flashed my bios from a 9800 Radeon Pro 256MB to an XT. However, I didn't get this Overdrive Tab that everyone keeps talking about. I'm wondering maybe I didn't use the right Bios, but my PC is picking it up as an XT. My question is this: Does the card get damaged after having the bios flashed too many times, or is it like a floppy disk where you can erase and re-write as much as you like?

 

You need to re-install the drivers after a bios flash. That will give you the new tab.

You can flash the BIOS as much as you like, but every time you do it you have a greater chance of it not working and screwing the card up. In itself it wouldn't damage the card, since all it does is open up a few locked pipelines (I think).

 

As far as the changes I saw from Pro to XT, it ran a lot smoother and faster, but now I do see a few artifacts on UT 2004, but only in the menu, not in the actual game. I was wondering if this happens to all 9800 Pro cards that are flashed to XT, or maybe I didn't flash it with the correct bios?

 

That might be a result of the clock speed being set higher than it should be. I'd get an overclocking utility and reduce the clock by about 5Mhz from "default". If you're getting artefacts you're pushing the chip a bit too much

 

I have a Q I have the 9800 pro 128 can I flash this to the 128 xt or do they even have one higher in the 128 pro ( o im a noob and i woudl not do this my self a freind would if i ask him 2 I just would like to know if I can)

Can I and if I can is it worth it ?

NM Like a dummy i just did a simple google search and it looks like the pro is the highest in 128 unless im missing something you all can disregard this post
