    Hi,
Here is a 10 second video showing the issue im talking about.
    http://www.theremotedoctor.co.uk/videoimages/black-screen.MOV

I am not to sure how to start to tackle this.
Its only started to happen in the last week.
I thought maybe temp etc but ive removed both side my tower to allow a greater air flow & its clean with no dust clogging the fan etc but still the same.

It doesnt do it all the time but will do it every day.
    Any advice would be great.

    Many thanks

    WINDOWS 7

What is REALLY odd is the task bar at the bottom and menu bars at the top of the screen do not black out.:confused::confused:

That tends to rule out hardware (and thus heat) or graphics driver related issues.

Have you scanned for malware? Does it only do it with your browser or every where else too?

    Yes,
Ive run Malwarebytes Anti Malware but results show nothing.
Ive only noticed it when on the Internet.
I was listening to online Radio when i noticed it so i stopped for a couple of days but still the same.
Just using files/folder etc etc i dont see anything.

One thing i will point out is i dissabled something that did not allow videos to play on web pages etc, cant remember name now.
But some pages that want to play there little videos etc now show keep blocking or allow.

Note that often, problems with browsers are due to poorly written or corrupt add-ons. So you might consider resetting FF and see what happens.

    OK
Ive only got say 5 add-ons so ive dissabled them all last night.
I used the pc for 1 hour so far and all ok.
Each day i will enable one and see if any triggers the fault.

    I will reply back then.
    Thanks

Also, FF was updated today 2 August. Have you updated it?

I haven't noticed a update yet so tomorrow I will check.

    Ok,
I've enabled 1 add on which was a new tab that opens to Google search, nothing major but after a few hours I was happy it was ok.
I then enabled Tea Timer which just opens a set number of URL pages, about 10 I think.
I clicked the Tea Timer icons a few times over the morning but so far no black screen issue.

Where I did see the black screen was when I was in Ebay.
Right clicked on a link & selected open in new tab. Did this to about 6 links.
I noticed for a very short while the screen was non responsive. Select one tab then the next I seen at the top Non Responding etc.
Screen went black then back to normal. All now seemed fine. Switching from say one tab to another then another etc etc, Bang Firefox crashed & asked to send bug report etc.
I started to then use chrome doing the same thing and fine.
I will say image I have 6 eBay URL pages open, example when I select URL 2 then say URL 3 but before URL 3 loads I see a black flicker.
It doesn't show page 3 straight after page 2 because for a very very very short moment there's s black flicker. Blink and you will miss it.

Tea Timer??? Wow, I have not heard of that in many years. If that is the same I am thinking of from Spybot S & D, I dumped that at least 10 years ago because it was a conflicting resource hog that caused too many problems and provided no added benefits!

I say, get rid it! You don't need Spybot S& D or Tea Timer.

With W7, I only used Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and Windows Firewall, along with MBAM just to make sure neither me or MSE let something slip by. Nothing did. Now with W10 on all my systems, I only use the new Windows Defender (the updated MSE) and Windows Firewall along with MBAM Premium (MBAM Free on my secondary computers) as my security and also have had nothing slip by.

The only add-on I have added to my default browser (IE11) is Adblock Plus for IE.

Ive just clicked on Firefox options the the update started to download & now ive installed it.
Strange as in the settings Automatically install updates was selected ??

Tea timer is not the Spybot one.
Its a add on where i have say 10 url links in it.
I click the tea timer logo & these urls are opened.
Its so i can access the without clicking one by one.
I was using this way before the black flicker issue came.

I almost jumped on that earlier, Bill. Then I picked out the below, which made me think it was a similarly named browser extension, which looks like it does a much different job:

    Perhaps this one, or similar?

    Ha Ha,
Its called Morning Coffe NOT tea timer.

Either way, it seems like an add-on that is causing problems and I would re-evaluate your need for it.

    ok moving on.
Ive dissable the add ons again then just run it for 2 days.
Today the screen started to flicker again.
But this time i noticed a pattern.
Whilst i had my gmail page loaded i could see when i placed the mouse over my labels on the left or any tab for web pages at the top the screen then started to flicker.
I then moved the mouse to an area where the was just blank space.I was able to move all over the place fine but as soon as i went over any kind of link, gmail label, open tab web browser it went off again.
I close the page down, reloaded gmail and did the same thing & perfect.
Does this advise you of anything ?
I am using a wired optical mouse on a mouse mat.
    Only this mouse at present.

Does it act the same way on that Gmail page with other all browser or just the one? If only one browser, it would not be a hardware (mouse) issue. In fact, if it only happened when using a browser, and not in Word or File Explorer or other programs, then not a hardware problem.

I've always used IE as my primary browser. I stopped using FF as my secondary browser when it started having so many security vulnerabilities and went to Chrome. Now I use Pale Moon as my secondary. If only a problem when browsing with just one browser, I would "reset" the browser completely, not just disable add-ons, but reset the browser.

    Hi,
Ive gone over to Chrome just to see what happens.
Since ive been using it say 4 days now without a problem at all im now saving bookmarks etc.
I think this is where i will stay & not revert back.
So far so good & learning my way around so it sound like here i will stay.

Many thanks for your time & advice.
    Cheers.
