Flip camcorder with broken USB.. getting video and/or charging

Ok, so this someone I'm trying to help has a Flip MinoHD (like this http://www.2dayblog.com/images/2008/november/flip_mino_hd_2.jpg). As anyone with half a brain might imagine, a USB port that pops out is just waiting to be broken.

To make a long story short, the USB wouldn't connect, so I dissected it and saw that the little board the USB is on was totally disconnected from the rest of the unit. I would have had to re-solder all the tiny little connections and I suck at soldering, plus this person wasn't really concerned with the camera itself, but just wanted the videos. So... I thought I'd just hook up the camera to my PC using the TV out (that is the only other connector of any kind of it aside from the broken USB). Well, the battery is almost dead and apparently the only way to charge is with the (broken) USB.

Does anyone have any ideas? If I take it apart again, is there some way to charge the battery? Any help is appreciated because I'm stumped.
