I am having a slight problem with my floppy disk drive. I have the latest drivers for it, and I believe it is connected securely. I have the GA7n400Pro2 motherboard by gigabyte and as far as the actual disk drive, I have no idea who makes it, but aren't they all the same? It is listed in My Computer, so the computer detects it. I uninstalled it in the device manager and re installed it and it still doesn't work. I will insert a disk, and it will say, no disk in drive A. What should I do. There is no cd or disk that came with it. Not like a disk would help, but I don't have any means to fix it. I don't think.

Ok, if that's the case then I thank you. They're relatively cheap I can get one off of Newegg. Hopefully that solves the problem If not you'll hear from me again.
    Thanks

There is one other thing I have ran into. On my one computer case, the
floppy drive sat too close to the edges of the floppy "slot"
from the case. I hope you get that.... Anyway, the effect was that it
wouldn't let the floppy disk load in properly. If I would take the drive
away from the case the floppy would load properly.
It wound up being a matter of adjusting the how far back the
    floppy sat in the rails.

I took the front bezel off my floppy drive to put it into my custom floppy bay, but it never works after... Ive tried 5 different fdds :p So in the end i threw them away and now i use a legacy free system.

thedagem, does your floppy drive have the light on all the time? The only reason that I'm asking is that I went back and read all your posts, and your computer appears to be a new build from the questions that you have asked. If I'm wrong, please ignore. :)

yes my light is always on and as far as my computer goes, I bought it piece by piece from newegg.com and other websites, as well as my friend who owns his own computer store. It is no make or model that you can find anywhere. It is the Thedagem computer! Why do you ask about the light on the front though, what is the significance of that?

Yes, a Floppy Drive's light is not supposed to be on all the time, it comes on during bootup check and when the drive is actually accessed for some reason.

If the light is on all the time, it would mean the 34-pin data (flat ribbon) cable has been connected incorrectly. IF you look at the cable there will be a red strip on one side of it, the side with the red strip generally faces away from the power cable of the Floopy Drive, if that looks correct then try flipping the cable at the motherboard end.

Was the floppy brand new? Mine did the same thing, just before going out completely, so I ended up replacing it. Even flipping the cable didn't do anything.

flipped the cable and it worked thanks. I have round cables and I guess I just didn't know which way was up!
    Thanks Thedagem
