Floppy problem

Hey people... Sorry about the title of the thread but it was kinda the best i could do.

Recently a friend has had a new CPU on her pc... and now when she switches it on she gets the error...

"The drive or Network connection that the 'Shortcut to the 3 1/2 floppy (a) .lnk' refers to is unavailable. Make sure the disk is inserted properly or the network resourse is available and try again"

Have tried to just install new hardware, have tried removing the connection physically, and then reconnecting so that it auto detects.

Currently as i am not on this pc i do not know the spec, so am posting this for suggestions as i will be at the pc in about 8 hours. Im hoping that i can do this myself when i arrive there, but if not... the next port of call will be here. If you guys have ran across this before.... please... lol let me know.
