flops

is there a way of calculating how many flops a home PC makes ?

like erm, they measure these super computers abilities in flops, and i wanna know how many my PC does .... anyone know ? ?

 

Older versions of Fresh Diagnose had several benchmarking tools that would give results in FLOPS: CPU bench, video bench, RAM bench, multimedia bench. The newer versions have these options disabled in the freeware versions. Try to track down a version from 2004 or 2005. I think Sandra has a similar feature, not 100% sure tho'....

i scored about 33000 mflops ....

reason i was wondering is i wanted to compare my pc to like the new xbox and new playstation ....

if my pc is operating at 3.3 Gflops, and a ps3 is gonna be like 2 Tflops lol how comes its so different ? ? ?

 

The PS3 is 100% devoted to video rendering, whereas the PC has lots of other things it has to take care of.....

 

well basically im wondering how they compare, and whether the graphics pumped out by a ps3 are gonna be better than a pc .....

i got a 8800 gts 640mb, along with this conroe thingy, so i wodner how they combine, if at all, and how that compares to a ps3 ....

when i look at screenies of ps3, it doesnt look as nice as my pc, like the AA looks way better on my pc, but like, i have no idea how many fps the ps3 is rendering and that ....

just curious thats all.
