My Phenom 2 940 is using core temp to monitor the cpu, but it never reads constant.

    Freq #0 - 803.98mhz (200.99x4.0) 0% load

    Freq #0 - 3600.17mhz (200.99x18) 11% load

This was easy to resolve with my E8500, I just disabled:
    CPU spread spectrum
    PCIE " "
    SATA " "
    LDT " "

I don't know the equivalent terms for AMD.

OK, kool n quiet is the culprit. Turned off and my readings are constant. ;)

    Hi

Personally I leave CoolNQuiet or processor scaling on as it helps keep CPU cool, if CPU is idle and at its lower end MHZ its doing nothing and really no need to have the CPU at full MHZ, the scaling will ramp up if an application needs the power (heat and temp will go up too).

Never had any application complain or run slow because of it, but I guess this is a user option if they like it on or off, so no rights or wrongs.
