Folder Type Problem

I'm on Windows XP Home Edition and I haven't encountered this problem before.

The problem is this: all of my folders somehow had their type changed to "Pictures", even "My Documents" and "My Music", two of the folders I don't know how to change back (since the option isn't there when I goto properties).

Any idea how to fix this?

Do you mean that the folder displays now show you ICONS, instead of filenames and specifics?

If so, don't bother with the Properties tabs of the folders. In an Explorer window, choose View in the Menu bar, then Details (or List, if you don't want to see everything you have), then open the View menu, Folder Options, and on the View tab, make sure that Remember each folder's view settings is checked, and then click the large Apply to All Folders button, then Apply and OK at the bottom of the panels.

    That's not what I mean.

The attachment shows what I was talking about. ("Picture Tasks" in the "My Music" folder)

I fixed it. When in "Folder Options" I restored everything to default.

    So, thanks Wisewiz.

    Oh, I see.

    You're welcome.

I'd suggest that you check your primary settings, though, to make sure they didn't also revert to the defaults. (I don't know how many settings that Default button acts on. I can't recall ever having used it.)

The one you needed to change was the Show Common Tasks setting.

But to be sure your Explorer hasn't been foobarred, check on the View tab and make sure that Display system folders, Show hidden files, and Remember each folder's settings are checked, and that the two Hide settings are NOT checked.

And remember to click the Apply button at the bottom before you click the Apply to all folders button near the top.
