Okay, reading from the previous thread....nothing seems to work.

    First question I have is:

    What OS?

IF 2000 or XP then try recovery console.

Then if the folder is on your desktop go to the following directory:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop>

    Now, use the following command:

dir (you could try "dir /ad" with out the quotes...this lists only directories)

directories are what represents folders in windows

next, if you find the folder/directory type in:

    rd /s foldername/directory name
    or
    rd foldername/directory name

if you do not find it there...then browse to
    c:\documents and settings\(your username)\desktop
    dir
    rd directory name

If it is windows 98, then boot up using a dos boot disk, then go to c:\windows\desktop

Normally, recovery console should be your friend, when all else fails.....

Give East-Tec Eraser a go ET Eraser ( 30 day trial ) pretty powerfull util that may get rid of that file folder.

If its still in the bin and wont go then use Erase > Eliminate > Recycle bin files

Before it went into the bin I would have said try taking ownership of that folder from properties > security tab of that folder ( properties > security > add > advanced > find now > pick your user/admin name and apply ) but as its now in the bin.. dunno if that will help.

Have you heard of GiPo@MoveOnBoot ,it may be worth a try if nothing else helps. You can get it hereLink Go to the bottom of page where it says Old Version (Freeware) for the download.

Isn't it also possible that the folder might have roots in the registry and won't leave till you delete the cooresponding registry?

Have you tried putting the file in the recycle bin > rebooting > then deleting it from recycle bin? It works for me...

it is in the recycle bin

East-Tec Eraser is a nifty program. . but bo, thar did no work either

I ran kill2me and there was no sign of infection, and I scaned anyway
the Recycle bin is empty(as in nothing visibly there), but it still shows something in it

maybe your ICONs are messed up and you have the "recycle bin full" icon selected for when the recycle bin is really empty...

assuming you are on Windows XP:

Right click on desktop, Properties, Desktop Tab, click on Customize Desktop button, and make sure the proper icons are selected for the Recycle Bin...

Why don't you get rid of your recycle bin then reinstall it after you have gotten rid of your folder(maybe with GiPo@MoveOnBoot).
Go to Start < Run < Type regedit
    Find,
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\

    {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}delete it and Restart.

Then when your ready to reinstall it.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\

Click Edit < New < Key Then paste {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and hit enter. Restart.

I would feel better if one of the other members would ok this first,I am fairly confident about this but not 100%

{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}This is what you want to delete.

So, you figured it out then?

I'd still would have jumped into recovery console and attempted to delete the recovery directory, then recreate it.
