Folding on Vistax64 not working...

My graphical client, that I just installed on my new little monster, is not working. It goes halfway through downloading a WU, then all of a sudden I get "Core download error #2, waiting for retry..."

It then tries again, fails again, and continues on this loop.

The firewall in my router is permitting the client through, I have it set to use the connection settings of Internet Explorer... now what?

I can't find any settings for different CPU cores... where would they be?

 

They're notorious for having server problems Mims but I also found that a reboot helped me when both my cores were done with their WU's and couldn't send the results for 1.5 days though I don't have x64 on my rig to really be able to tell you. As to specifying a core, I believe only the console mode has that option, the GUI would use core 0 and I'd set the console to core1, if that's what you're talking about.

 

Hm... reboot did not seem to help.

I will try the console client instead and see if that one works better.

Like yourself, I too was having numerous problems with F@H 5.3 graphical client
and Vista. Searched the Pande Group forum and tried all the solutions found there.
Nothing corrected the problems I was experiencing until I found a reference to
ATI Graphic Drivers 7.11
Uninstalled 7.12, reinstalled 7.11 and now it is running 'as sweet as' and I hope
to recover from 8 failures!
Hope that this post may be of assistance to yourself and others with unexplainable errors occurring while 'folding'.

Sorry, some bad info there Mims, GUI would automatically take core 1 and the console should be set to core 2 if you're running both.

 

It would probably be more helpful if I was still foolish enough to try and game on an ATI card

I did update my graphics drivers recently, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I'm doing a clean reinstall of the client, to see if it will make a difference.

Once I have the GUI working smoothly, I'll get the console one running on the other core.

Damnation! It still refuses to download WUs! And this is after I have disabled the firewall...
