thank you all for creating such a great resource! fighting google redirects and and 10 or so loops of big ben with my outgunned protection software, i stumbled across your forum.

usage- browsing mostly, word programs, email, facebook, youtube, my wife uses it more frequently than i do. My 3 year old can google search abc and click on his movies on youtube and I think he clicked on a lot of banners and even loaded some game software before i started cleaning (hoping for assistance on restricting his browsing later). I've cut everyone out over the last couple days while I ran my tools and now have been following the readmefirstpost here.

previous tools running - AVG free, AdAware, Spybot,

history- computer started slowing, eventually realized I was infected with something my tools wouldn't solve. sound card stopped working. google redirects started up. ran the above tools and all came up with something over and over again. AVG specifically continued to find 4 entries and only fix 2. that is when i looked for other options and found this site.

I followed the readmefirst instructions to the letter including a full uninstall of AVG.

After I ran malwarebyes and tdsskiller my system appeared to normalize (but what do i know). I continued through the readme installing and running the other tools and have attached all the logs requested below. I did not go back and rerun any of the tools.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to clean up my system. oh, also my sound still isn't working ( i can follow up on this and maintenance recommendations later if better???)

    thank you so much!!

    Hello, pablocafe

The scanner removed the malware - only a couple of things to do.

NOTE: There has been an update to Malwarebytes' released - version 1.51.0.1200. Please "Open" MBAM > click on the Update tab > Check for updates. Then perform a "Quick Scan".

Please look in Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features if using Vista or Windows 7) for the following and uninstall if found. If you get any errors just make a note and continue on.
If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and re-enable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
