Ok, I have a random problem with my fonts. Here's the story. I am a physics major and we frequently have homework that is taken in an online setting. As a result, I need the symbol font to work and display everything correctly or else all the greek characters come out as English ones and all of the problems make no sense. Now my symbol font won't display correctly and I have no idea how to fix it. I had this problem once before and the only thing that fixed it was reformatting my hard drive. I've searched everywhere online but can't find anything about it.

Basically, my problem is that I installed Adobe Font Folio so I'd have lots of fonts for doing web design, and after I did that, none of my browsers could display the symbol font. I've tried it in IE, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera. (as a web designer, I have all the browsers for testing) I looked around online last year when this happened and read something about how having too many fonts confuses Windows and causes the symbols to be incorrectly shown in any browser. So, I went through my font folder and deleted just about any font that didn't seem system critical and it still didn't do the trick. My browser still won't display the symbols. Now I'm running into real problems because nu's look like n's and mu's look like m's and pi's look like p's so it's nearly impossible to tell what the hell my questions are asking. Is there a way to fix this? Or am I just stuck with either reformatting or dealing with it?

    Thanks

    What OS do you have?

    Heres some things to try:

    - Remove some of the fonts you have -- that may help. Having too many fonts can muck up the works.

    - Uninstall Font Folio and see if that has an effect.

    - The other thing is you can try is get a copy of the symbol font you want from another machine and reinstall that single font.. Perhpas adobe over wrote it with its own? Just a guess.
