Fonts deleted from font folder after boot up -- WIndows 2000 OS

I have a crazy problem -- and don't know what to do about it.

Everytime I re-boot my notebook, I have to reinstall all of my fonts.

The notebook is running Windows 2000 with SP4. It started doing this about 2 months ago. I have been searching and searching for any explanation for this, but so far I have not found any.

I need HELP!

Do you lose all the fonts including those that are default to Windows 2000? This would mean that you wouldn't see any text on menus and other text items, so how do you get to re-install all the fonts if there are no fonts in order to read text?

one system font seems to remain. The Desktop is readable, but none of the menus are. In fact, I first noticed this during the bootup process when the pre-windows startup graphic appears that states "opening personal settings", instead it has gibberish, where the words would normally be.

How do I reinstall the fonts? I placed a set of the fonts in another folder, and just do a copy and paste. The fonts install okay, but when they finish installing, there and error meassage appreas hat says something like "Font Folder Program not working". And then, when I check the font folder, its empty. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

 

Well, who knows what you did. Try a repair installing of XP......

 

This is 2000 I thought?

At any rate, this is probably registry corruption.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts

Verify this key exists.
