    Almost two weeks ago, my daughter and a friend used my computer and I suddenly had no fonts in Internet Options, only five in Windows\Fonts and Spybot had a huge stack of changes that appeared to be registry changes which only allowed one option, "Allow Change". Prior to realizing there was a problem, my daughter had encountered some type warnings and she just kept clicking "yes", she said. She didn't know what she was doing.

    I think it is a worm because the problem is steadily getting worse and affecting more areas. Last week, I was able to print from Xcel but now I just get right arrow symbols. I was able to read documents on Word at first but now only have two fonts, Marlett and Mediascape OSD Icon. I had a restore point back in September when this first started. Since it was so old, I knew that would be my last resort. Later this week, I decided to give up and restore the system but that restore point is now no longer in existance.

    Through research on the net, I read a possible solution of using DOS to change the fonttext.dll file to fonttext.old. That got me my fonts back in Windows\Fonts but I can't access them. Internet Options still has no fonts listed at all and Word only has the two. It's working it's way into some areas of programs and internet pages and seems to be getting increasingly worse.

    I have Windows ME and run Symantec AV and Firewall, plus SpywareBlaster, Adaware SE, Spybot, Registry Mechanic, and Spyware Doctor. I update them several times a week because it seems to be a constant battle to keep junk off your computer. I downloaded TweakUI and attempted to repair fonts, to no avail. There are three files in C:\_RESTORE\TEMP that I'm quite positive are the problem but they're locked so tight that they can't be scanned, deleted or moved. They are:
    @_V_-`T[`T A hidden file created on Feb. 01, 2089. It's empty.
    __-_[`T_.-AV No Creation Date - Empty
    7_-_@v_.[`T Created Aug. 12, 1986, 608 KB

    I deleted SpyBot after this because it wouldn't stop popping up the continual change boxes. When going through your list of required scans, I tried to download it but it won't load. says

    "error creating registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Brower Helper Objects\{53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F}
    RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 1009
    The configuration registry database is corrupt."

    I also could not use Trend. It gave error code 28, generic source network failure. I tried to load and run both programs several times and had the same response each time.

    My computer does not have an option for using the internet while in Safe Mode, so I could only run CCleaner and Ad-Aware SE with the VX2 Clearner Plug-In in safe mode. All else had to be run in normal mode. The only thing any of them showed was C:\HP\bin\Terminator.exe. I deleted it with a-squared even though it is not for certain a problem.

    Buster gave the following message: ADS not scanned System(FAT)
    Attempted Clean Of Temp folder.
    Pages Reset... Done!

    Please, please help me. If you can't, I'll have to reinstall my operating system. Have you ever seen anything like this before?

    I forgot to mention that the fonts I do have are not as they should be. Marlett shows up as a file but cannot be deleted. Mediascape OSD Icon is not even listed as a file. I searched my computer for it and it did not come up! How can that be if it's showing in the Font's window in Word?
