Wow man, this thing rocks! Solid construction, easy to use and includes a hose for canisters. It also has the proper amount of suction(as Mr. Dyson says).:innocent :-D Once I got into a rhythm, it was easy to do 10 lbs. of meat into 2 person portions. The plastic is also good and thicker than anything I've ever seen/felt, I don't expect much if any freezer burn.

Yes, it is a tad pricey @ $100 though it's much better than a cheapo Decosonic. This had the #2 rating over at CooksCountry, (they are fully funded by us and not corps). The best one cost $470 :eek You may have to enter your e-mail addy to see that page but just say no to their mail offerings, they're good about that.

The only caveat(albeit a very small one) was that the plastic roll cannot be kept inside the machine and one has to cut the plastic for each bag. This is not a deal breaker for me.:)

Talk to ya'll after a month in the deep freeze.

Hey Augie, that is a good machine! I have two of them, and they REALLY are nice! No freezer burn at all, and it will keep your meet a long time in the freezer, real nice.

One thing I have found, tho, is if you are goinf to do fish or hamburger, to freeze your fish or hamburger first, THEN vacuum pack it. If you don't the juices will yuck up the machine!:cry

I LOVE mine, and we can do a whole deer in no time with two!:-D

I never did freeze first with my old Decosonic so my bag ends were always wet, no matter how carefully I tried to keep them clean. I wish I had of thought of that as I freeze just about anything, from a demi-glace of chicken or veal/beef stock cubes in the ice tray to making 1 tbsp. sized tomato paste drops to meat sauces etc. and use as needed.

Now you're making me nervous about sauces, maybe I'll stick with ziplock bags for that. Lucky you to have a hunter, me I just got a couple of venison steaks this year from my friend and no moose. :( I've got a hankering for some wild meat, I think I'll order up some bison.:yum:)

No need to be nervous, Augie, just put your sauces in a ice cube tray, and freeze first, then vacuum seal them. Works like a charm! I wouldn't use a ziploc as long as I have the vacuum sealer. I have done more than just venison. ( Gotta get my own too! )

Turtle was real good. Darn, not a bit of freezer burn, and I also did some of that Newfie Moose! Save that for special occasions! :-D Have a good friend that goes up there hunting every once in a while, and those animals are HUGE;)

    TimW, what do you mean,
We prefer the venison, moose, elk and antelope to beef here, so I like to keep mine from getting freezer-burnt too.;)

Nah, too much work when one makes several quarts of tomato sauce at a time.;) One cup fits nicely in a medium bag and I let it set up flat in the freezer before moving it into the large freezer, quite the space saving. What I might do is freeze them flat and then vacu-seal them as after a while one gets the freezer 'taste' in there.

Hehehe, that stuff doesn't freeze unless you buy %12 garbage vodka. As much booze as you can fit in a 11" by 10' bag(which is a whole roll).:p:-D

I will have to look into one of those. The Sealer, not the 12% Vodka, that is just wrong... My Vodka and Gin lives nicely in the freezer, gets a little bit thick, but does not freeze. ;)
