The Indy 300 is on at the Gold Coast here in Queensland today.

All the Yank drivers love this race, it is in OZ after all :D.

They vote it the best event of the year and an Aussie is off pole position, for the first time in many years.

The Gold Coast circuit comprises streets In Surfers paradise with lots of concrete walls and little room to make a pass.

Local TV Channel 10 starts at 11am today and I can't wait. Bazza

I used to enjoy watching Indy Car races, but when the split happened several years ago and IRL & CART could only muster 14-16 car fields, that kind of killed the interest for me. The best thing they could to do regenerate interest in the sport is to merge, as the only race worth watching is the Indianapolis 500 as it's the only one with a full field.

That might also allow for less coverage of Danica Patrick; finishing 8th each week in a 14-car field is not as impressive as the press likes to think it is. ;)

She didn't go well here either. I think the Surfers Paradise circuit frightened hell out out of her. It is a very tough street circuit and she is not the only one that came to grief.

So tough, they have has 16 different winners, here, in 16 years.

For me it was the splitting of teams and drivers more than the size of the field. Some of the guys I liked to follow went one way, some went the other, and a lot of those that stayed with CART weren't at Indy, CART ran a competing race for Memorial Day after the split. Just wasn't the same.

No not noticed it listed on any channels.. wonder if it will be shown this weekend, sometimes they show races like that a week later.

One new channel of ours ( Five US ) is showing NASCAR now.
