OMG that is one light-colored buck! Awesome shot broadside. You don't get many shots like that in Oregon....too many trees and scrub.

surely no-one could shoot that. i understand food and stuff, but there are exceptions and that buck has to be one? aloha from the shaky state.

So, spent the whole weekend from sunrise to sunset rambling the wilderness (over near Diamond Peak, Mankind), and am sore in places I didn't know I had places (my signature means SOOOO much more to me today HAHA). That is rough terrain..... only nearly fell off one cliff face lol. This is my eldest son and I heading out there. Saw plenty of elk fresh sign, but no elk until sunset last night, and then just cows.

 

Poor animals. I'm not a fan of hunting unless you're going to use every part of the animal for something like the Indians did.

 

We use every part of the animal, pretty much, and as you can tell from my postings, certainly in the rough terrain of Oregon you have to work very hard for your kill. We came across so many elk hunters this weekend, but only one successful one. Also blacktail deer hunting over here is nothing like your whitetail walk-in-the-park down south.

 

If it moves and has horns, then I say shoot the bastard
