I have searched through the forums and download links for a forced software uninstaller and cannot find what I think that I need. My new pc came with software installed that I do not want and I cannot uninstall through Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs. I really need to get rid of some of the pre installed programs because they hinder me. One is RealTek Hi Definition Audio Manager and Driver. I cannot uninstall with Add/Remove because it says it is missing some files. I need to remove it because it is not letting me hear music or use my mic.

If you recommend a program, please be specific because I have already downloaded a ton of stuff that does not do what I need done. Please and thank you if you can help.

Have you tried "windows installer cleanup"? Or "msicuu2.exe" by program name. Its supposed to remove traces of files left behind after a bad uninstall.

BILLMCC66, Your Uninstaller is a failure at registry cleaning. I used to use it all the time and I though it was cleaning the registry until I tried Tuneup Utilities (Registry cleaner). It then became obvious that Your Uninstaller was just pretending to clean the registry. Did it ever show you what files if found? No! thats because it was a usless and fake addition to the app to increase sales. I hate it when a company does that. As far as I'm concerned they became untrustworthy after that. Pay for untrustwothy applications? I think not!

Simple enough to test, install Tuneup Utilities and run its registry cleaner so the registry shows nothing left to remove. Uninstall an application with Your Uninstaller and use its registry cleaner. Now run Tuneup Utilities registry cleaner again, anything there? Reinstall the application and uninstall from windows add remove programs and then run Tuneup Utilities registry cleaner. Whats there? the exact same items? There you go Your Uninstaller was faking it.

    Hello Bomba,
I am far from being an expert, but I can recommend two small programs that I have found useful to me when I've had similar problems to yours. I think both can be found at MG, though not 100% sure. The first is called Treesize Free. It will give your a very detailed access to files on your system. Then if you can't delete simply from it you can try program called Unlocker that works to get at and delete stubborn files. I hope this helps some. Regards, hvt

    hi there,
i found this thread while looking for uninstaller help on google, and followed your idea of using "windows installer cleanup" to fix my problem. Now my problem is that i want to uninstall Epson printer software, and it goes through the motions and claims to have uninstalled but is still in the Add/Remove list of WinXP, so figured the suggested program would sort that out- but the Epson software doesnt show up in "windows installer cleanup" . . . . can some one give any advice?
    Cheers
    Nathan

Bomba, i would leave the realtek software, cause thats the stuff needed for your hardware (if it's indeed the correct stuff, verify with your manufacturer).

Bomba and nathanbarlow, CCleaner has an uninstaller in it, however, be careful what you uninstall, cause it lists alot more stuff than the add/remove control panel does, and just uninstall what you know you want to remove. Also ccleaner is a good program to use to keep your computer and registry clean (not antivirus or anti spyware, just temp files and such). as far as epson software, make sure you don't have thatprinter connected anymore, otherwise it wont get removed.

nathanbarlow, Windows is notorious for leaving behind the program listing in add/remove programs even after the app is gone. It shouldn't cause any problems but it is annoying. I'm not sure if windows itself has a method to get rid of them but I know Tuneup Utilities does but its not free. Maybe you could install the trial and use it to get rid of your phantom install listing, clean your registry and when it expires uninstall it.

I used to reformat my hard drives every 6 months or so, But since I started using a registry cleaner and a security erasing program (bcwipe 1.0 is freeware it wipes files instead of sending to the recycle bin) I don't have to do that anymore. Theres a site called "last free version" that has alot of great stuff listed you can download and all the versions were the last free ones before the makers went commercial. They also list shareware as advertisement, so don't be fooled and download that stuff unless you want a trial.

Windows installer cleanup is your friend. Also, you might try downloading the driver your are trying to remove. After downloading, install, then go to add remove programs and uninstall.
