Forgot Computer Password

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I set up one of my home computers with multiple users only allowing one user (myself, using last name) to make administrative changes.

Now, I need to make some changes, have forgotten my password, and have tried for several months to remember it, but no luck. I even wrote it down, but I cannot find the paper. It is frustrating to say the least. Anyways, is there anything I can do to over-ride this? Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you so much in advance.

Thank you. No, I cannot log on as an administrator and it is the only "user" on the computer with a password. The other 3 users (my-self, husband & son) do not have passwords. I bet I won't forget the next password - lol!

No, I didn't try safe mode, but I think I'll try it prior to "Major Attitude's" suggestion. You guys are great! Thanks for all of your support.

If you have never logged on to the administrator account in safemode it will not have a password (just press enter).

This account is not your own administrator account and is not available in normal mode.

you can use it to do the normal password maintenance.

 

Thank you. I haven't tried anything yet, but I'm going to later tonight. Wish me luck. I'll post my results sometime tomorrow.
