forgot password in windows 8

Actually, I refreshed my computer which was a no no and now when I boot up, it asks for a password I don't have. I have a HP computer, 3.3 ghz with 4 gigs of ram. I thought about downloading a password reset or a recovery tool but thought I'd ask here first. Also, I need to know how to get the boot up to look at my USB port before my hard drive.

 

Hey Blueone, can you get in to the computer if you boot into safe mode ??

 

No, it still asks for a password even after safe mode is enabled. This Windows 8 is a different breed then the rest.

 

Yea I know it different. Hopefully one of these geniuses here at MGs that are more familiar with Win 8 will jump in. I'm still trying to work my way into its inner workings. Good luck buddy.

 

A friend also had the same problem with a new HP computer and they told him the only way was to restore the computer to brand new condition from the recovery partition.

F11 I believe.

Thanks Nick but I finally got the problem solved. Sorry not to reply sooner bur I've been busy clearing up the problem mentioned and also fixing a winsock catalog problem on another computer of mine. To solve the lost password problem, I finally called the manufacturer and had them do a fresh install. It's a long process but not too complicated. The complicated part is placing your backed up files and such back on to your computer. It took about two hours or more to do everything. Thanks again for your responses.
